It's not everyday you meet someone who has literally stepped out of their world to raise voice for a silent cause. So I feel proud writing about this here.
Kanak Dixit and his lovely wife Shanta, along with 3 team mates, are driving in a blue 1973 beetle from Nepal to Pakistan to generate funds and raise awareness for their 'Spinal Centre Nepal'. They hope to generate enough funds ($100 per mile) so they can expand their facility and really help out as much patients as possible. But more importantly they talked about tying South Asia together. Yesterday they finished their 1100 mile journey but during their stopover here in Islamabad, we got a chance to meet up with them. They're fabulous people and it was great getting a chance to talk to them.
Pakistan could not have let them leave without their signature hospitality so the Pakistan Volkswagen Club presented them with an ornate truck art bumper. Here's a pic from that evening.
Please take some time out to check out their YouTube channel 'For Nepal'.
